As a vacation destination, the Great Camp of Bearhurst is anything but ordinary. It is a remarkable bit of history that lives on to provide our guests with a true Adirondack experience.
All of the outbuildings at Bearhurst-originally the boathouse, the icehouse and horse stalls, and estate kitchens-have been renovated into charming cottages that provide modern comforts while retaining their turn-of-the-century appeal. Each is distinctively furnished, has a well-equipped kitchen, television,VCR and are immaculately maintained.
If the inside of the cottage is comfortable, the world outside is spectacular. Here, we see nature at its finest: beautiful sunsets over the lake against a backdrop of ascending mountains. Bearhurst is fortunate in its expansive lakeside as the property bends around the lake for 1200 feet, giving us both privacy and wonderful access. A spacious dock invites swimming, canoeing (we have canoes for guests), sailing, fishing, water-skiing, or just sitting in the sun with a good book.
Of course, the beauty of our immediate surroundings is only the beginning. The adventurous guest will find this section of the Adirondack Park generous in its bounty with vast tracts of wilderness that offer opportunities for hiking, canoeing, hunting, and other outdoor pursuits. And after exploring nature, our guests love to investigate the nearby towns. Speculator has a choice of good restaurants, Saratoga Springs is about a lovely 60-minute trip, and antiquing is never far away.
Bearhurst is not just another vacation spot. It's a change of pace. A chance to truly get away.

Many of our cottages are rented for ten weeks or longer to guests who return year after year. As many reservations are made far in advance, we recommend you make your plans early. If you are in the area, please call if you would like to drop by to see the outside of the cottages and the Bearhurst property.

Your hosts, the Armstrongs, occupy the main lodge.
